The World Health Organization (WHO) approves Chinese Sinovac vaccine for Emergency Use Listing (EUL)

The Chinese vaccine Sinovac-CoronaVac COVID-19 vaccine has been approved for the World Health Organization’s Emergency Use Listing (EUL).  | 世卫组织批准科兴COVID-19疫苗紧急使用,并发布临时政策建议

To qualify for the Emergency Use Listing, WHO checks the vaccines quality, safety, efficiency as well sustainability in regard to distribution. 

Some key points:
  • An onsite inspection of production facility was conducted. 
  • Vaccine efficacy results showed that the vaccine prevented symptomatic disease in 51% of those vaccinated and prevented severe COVID-19 and hospitalization in 100% of the studied population.
